A new organization has taken over the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.
Friends of the Bantam Jeep Association, Inc. are now officially in charge of planning what has become one of Butler County’s most sought after events.
The association is comprised of about 50 volunteers who have been involved in the management and execution of the festival over the last five years. The group is in the process of becoming a 501-C4 nonprofit.
The Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau started the event in 2011 to celebrate and honor Butler as the birthplace of the Jeep but decided in 2014 that they no longer wanted to be responsible for the event.
“This group is energized and excited about all of the possibilities that exist for the future of the event,” said Rodney Schaffer, president of the Friends association. “We are committed to improving the Festival, growing attendance and giving back to the Butler community. In fact, 10 percent of our annual net revenue will be given to Butler County non-profit organizations because we want the Festival to give back to the community even more.”
Schaffer says the group is still looking for members who want to be part of planning the event. More information is online at bantamjeepfestival.com.
The 2016 event will be held June 10-12 in downtown Butler and at Cooper’s Lake Campground. In 2015, the festival set a Guinness World Record and attracted 2, 937 Jeeps from 38 states and Canada.
