The newly-seated Butler City Council voted Tuesday to reopen the city’s 2018 budget.
Mayor Ben Smith said the budget might not necessarily be changed, but he would like to give the new city council members, and himself, an opportunity to look at it.
“It is important for us to say ‘we approve this,’” Smith said.
The budget was originally passed late last year and it was the first time in four years that it was passed without a tax increase.
Council must adopt a final budget by mid-February.
