The congressional districts being used in Tuesday’s primary election look very different from those used two years ago.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled earlier this year that the old congressional district map was unconstitutional. The court then essentially took over the process of drawing a new map, which meant the door was open for Democrats to possibly make significant gains on the Republicans’ current delegation edge.
Butler County is one of a few counties statewide that is now split into three congressional districts. Most of eastern Butler is now in the 15th district. The western side of the county is in the 16th and a part of Cranberry Township in southern Butler County is in the 17th.
Voting precincts have not changed so voters should go to the same place they went to cast their ballot last year.
Butler County used to all fall within the 3rd Congressional District, represented by U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly.
