Doctors at Butler Memorial Hospital have performed a new procedure that improves cardiovascular health.
According to Independence Health System, Butler Memorial recently treated their first patient using the Evolut FX+ transcatheter aortic valve replacement system which is a minimally invasive alternative to open heart surgery valve replacement.
Butler Memorial is among the first facilities in the region to provide this new system to improve coronary access for the treatment of symptomatic severe aortic stenosis. The FDA recently approved this system which has larger coronary access windows.
Common symptoms of aortic stenosis in adults include chest pain, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, dizziness, difficulty walking short distances, swollen ankles or feet, difficulty sleeping, and declining activity. Visit the Independence Health System website for more information.
