The Butler Area School District is adding a new administrative position.
As part of the most recent personnel report, the Board approved moving McQuistion Elementary Principal Carrie Morgan-Davis into the position of Assistant Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development.
According to Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White, Morgan-Davis will maintain her current salary while working closely with Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development Julie Hopp.
“We have over 100 kids more [in the] tenth grade than any other grade, said Dr. White. “Most of those kids came from places back [from] cyber charter schools and such that created an influx of students. Are curriculum wasn’t designed for kids coming off Covid that aren’t successful in a traditional setting we have to redesign our curriculum to engage all learners so that they want to come to school and be successful in school. We just don’t have the man power on hand. It’s not something we can hand our teachers and say ‘hey while you’re teaching redesign your curriculum and engage all learners.’”
This move will also transition Center Township Elementary Principal Theresa Cherry to Principal of McQuistion while Tanya Lewis moves from Assistant Principal at Center Township to Principal of that school.
