Film crews are expected to be in downtown Butler Saturday filming scenes for a new Netflix series.
“Mindhunter” is a television drama set to debut next year (2017). It’s based on a book of the same name and focuses on high-profile FBI cases.
Scenes will be filmed inside a courtroom in the Butler County Courthouse, as well as in Diamond Park. County Court Administrator Tom Holman says the crews loved the architecture and look of the courthouse and it “fit their needs” in portraying an older-style courtroom.
“They loved it and that’s why they’re here,” Holman said. “It suits their needs. They are doing a courtroom scene that requires an older courtroom and ours fit the bill.”
The county won’t be paid to host the shoot but Netflix will pay for overtime costs incurred with having extra county maintenance crews on site that day.
Director of the Netflix-original series is David Fincher. He has led movies including “Gone Girl” and “Fight Club” and fellow Netflix series “House of Cards.” Charlize Theron is one of the executive producers.
