The Washington Nationals took Game One of the World Series with a 5-4 victory over the Houston Astros last night in Houston. Max Scherzer allowed two runs over five innings, striking out seven. Four members of the Washington bullpen closed out the game. Houston starting pitcher Gerrit Cole lost for the first time in 25 games, allowing all five earned runs over seven innings. He struck out six. It was the most runs Cole has allowed since May 22nd.
Game Two is tonight in Houston. Game time is 8:08pm. Justin Verlander will start for the Astros. Stephen Strasburg will start for the Nationals.
