Nascar has a triple-header at Phoenix Speedway this weekend. Hear the Cup race Sunday on WBUT 1050am and at wbut.com beginning at 1pm. Last year’s race was a rain-shortened event won by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Two drivers in the Chase final eight look to join Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards in next week’s championship finale in Florida.
Brian Scott, who drives the Number-44 Sprint Cup Series Ford for Richard Petty Motorsports, announced Thursday that he will retire from full-time competition at the end of the 2016 season – citing his intent to focus on a young and growing family. Scott, 28, ran limited Cup Series schedules from 2013 through 2015 before joining R-P-M to compete full-time this year.
