NASCAR Sprint Cup Series haulers will be on display at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg today starting at 10 am, before they roll off in their annual parade through Pennsylvania’s capital city as a prelude to the upcoming NASCAR weekend at Pocono Raceway.
Richard Petty Motorsports has suspended operations of its Number-43 X-FINITY Series team after primary sponsor J-Streicher missed payments. In Jeb Burton’s first full-time season in the series, the son of 2002 Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton is eleventh in the point standings with a best finish of tenth in his eleven starts – that coming in late February at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In the wake of Wednesday’s announcement, Burton has landed a Sprint Cup ride for the weekend ahead at Pocono Raceway.
Three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series crew chiefs were fined and suspended with Brian Pattie getting hit the hardest with a two-race suspension and a $50,000 fine.
Pattie, crew chief for Greg Biffle and the No. 16 team, which was also assessed with the loss of 15 championship owner and 15 championship driver points for illegal body measurements following the Charlotte race last weekend. Randall Burnett (crew chief for AJ Allmendinger) and Tony Gibson (crew chief for Kurt Busch) were each suspended one race (P3) and fined $20,000 for their cars having loose lug nuts after the race.
