The Nascar Cup Series heads to Dover this Sunday afternoon. Four of the sixteen title contenders will be dropped from the field before the series heads to the following weekend to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Drivers currently occupying positions thirteen through sixteen are Austin Dillon and Ryan Newman (teammates at Richard Childress Racing), Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne. Ricky Stenhouse Junior holds the final provisional spot to transfer into the second round but he is just one point clear of the cutoff … Newman and Busch are the only two of those five drivers with wins on “The Monster Mile.” With wins in the first two weeks of the post-season, Martin Truex Junior and Kyle Busch have locked themselves into the twelve-man field for the next round. Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski also will advance based on the playoff point standings, leaving eight spots still open heading into Sunday’s race at Dover.
