Michael Waltrip Racing has decided they are not going to field teams at the Sprint Cup level in 2016, and have told driver Clint Bowyer he is free to seek other employment. MWR will continue to field the number-16 car for Bowyer and the number-55 car for David Ragan through the remainder of the season,.
Bowyer is currently 16th in points, and at the moment is holding the final spot that would be eligible for the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.
