12 parks in Butler County will be receiving grant money for new projects.
Butler Township and the City of Butler were among the municipalities awarded the annual county grant.
The projects range from playground installations, trail improvements, and shelter constructions among others.
Each of the municipalities will receive $7,500 to their projects.
Municipalities that received grants:
Adams Township
- Purchase and installation of a destination playground for Adams Twp. Park
Buffalo Township
- Purchase and installation of limestone to replace and repair the Butler-Freeport Community Trail
Butler Township
- Purchase and Installation of automatic gate barriers that will go automatically open and close the park
City of Butler
- Removal of the remaining spring rider and slides due to safety issues at Ritts Park. Project also includes installation of 5/12 modular playground unit
Chicora Borough
- Purchase and installation of fascia on thte roof of shelter, enclose shelter roves, install new lighting and provide new barrier around playground area
Cranberry Township
- Replacement of existing trail created of millings to become ADA accessible.
Evans City Borough
- Purchase of interactive structures at the EDCO Park pool such as a weeping tulip sprayer
Harmony Borough
- Purchase and spreading of gravel for the canoe launch on Connoquenessing Creek. The second priority will be to replenish the safety surface up to the border around the playground equipment.
Harrisville Borough
- Match for DCNR and CDBG grants. A large ADA walking trail throughout the park and CXT restroom. Addition of utility lines and permitting for these liens
Jefferson Township
- Purchase and installation of poured in play surface under existing playground
Penn Township
- Purchase and installation of poured in play surface under existing playground. This project will also include new drainage system beneath the mulched area and a new ADA access to the parking lot and basketball court. Also replace the volleyball court with a pickleball court
Slippery Rock Township
- Implementing phase 1 of Slippery Rock Twp.’s CDBG grant with installation of picnic pavilion with lighting, utilities and ADA walkway
