A revision of Pennsylvania’s current “Move Over” driving law will go into effect next month.
Line crews working near the road to restore electricity will be legally considered emergency service providers. These crews will join police officers, firefighters, medics, highway workers, and tow truck operators as those to be protected under the law.
The “Move Over PA” Law is designed to protect people working on or near roads by requiring drivers to move to a lane away from where work is taking place or at least slow down if that is not possible. Drivers can be fined if they do not follow this law.
The revised law will go into effect January 3rd which is 60 days after it was signed by Governor Tom Wolf.
