The dangerously cold temperatures did not have an effect on most public school districts- and private schools- in Butler County on Monday because they were already scheduled to be closed due to the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The only public school district in the county scheduled to have class was Slippery Rock Area School District. They operated on a two-hour delay.
Districts are scheduled to be back to class on Tuesday.
