A big name artist could perform next year at Butler County’s Moraine State Park.
Two groups are working together to make this happen- the Moraine Preservation Fund and the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau. The idea is to bring someone in that would generate a lot of money, which could then be invested back into the park.
“The state budget continues to be cut and it effects the park,” Tourism Bureau President Jack Cohen said in an interview Thursday. “We need to figure out how to offset those losses.”
It’s thought that doing a concert in the park would generate some good revenue, which could then be put towards projects in the park that have an impact.
Some big names are being thrown out as possible headliners- including country superstars Brad Paisley and Miranda Lambert.
“We are approaching some of those folks now and we’re awaiting responses,” Cohen said. “We will find somebody in the next couple of months and nail it down.”
Cohen noted they while they want to bring in someone of that caliber, they also need to make money. Some of the demands of these national recording artists are extravagant and expensive.
The concert, which will be billed as an all-day music festival- is set for August 18, 2018.

The Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau and the Moraine Preservation Fund are working together on the 2018 concert at Moraine State Park.
The Moraine Preservation Fund does special projects in the park, like Winterfest or helping with the Regatta, according to Jack Cohen, president of the Butler County Tourism Bureau. However, those projects aren’t enough to really make a big difference.
“They work so hard on all these projects, yet there’s not a good return on investment,” Cohen said. “The revenues aren’t even enough to buy a dozen picnic tables.”
Cohen said the group is really looking for a way to generate good funds and to make a real difference at Moraine State Park. The August 2018 concert will, hopefully, do just that.
