Moniteau high school softball pitcher Kennedy DeMatteis has been named the District-9 Most Valuable Player. It is the fourth consecutive year she has received the honor. DeMatteis is 19-0 this season, with a 0.43 ERA. She has struck out 127 over 82 innings. Kennedy is also batting .500 this season.
Moniteau’s Cortney Claypoole, Kristina DeMatteis, Sara Hull and Gabby Stewart were named to the District-9 first team, along with Emily Wetzel from AC Valley.
In baseball: Karns City’s Cullen Williams, Tyler Yough and Jace Ebbit were named to the D9 first team along with Moniteau’s Jake Jewart.

–Pine-Richland-2 Plum-0. Ryan Okuda tossed a one-hitter for the Rams. The Virginia Tech recruit has allowed only two earned runs over the past two seasons, with an 11-0 record. He improved to 7-0 this season. The Rams meet Mt. Lebanon Wednesday in the semi-finals.
–North Allegheny-9 Norwin-1. The Tigers will meet Canon-McMillan Wednesday in the semi-finals.
