A homeowner burning leaves on Monday in Butler Township ended up damaging two garages.
Firefighters got the call about noon on Monday to respond to a yard on South Eberhart Road.
“When we got there, there were leaves and brush debris burning that had spread into one garage and it was approaching a second detached garage,” Dave Bestwick, chief of the Butler Township Fire Station 3 said.
Bestwick says his crew was able to get the fire under control quickly. Damage was relatively minimal.
“There was some melted siding on the one and some other damage to the second,” Bestwick said. “The Butler Township fire marshal will be investigating further.”
This was not the only brush and grass fire reported on Monday- There were several across the region. Firefighters urge residents not to burn on a windy day when it’s easy for fire to spread.
