No further immediate action is planned as the most recent air quality tests at schools in the South Butler School District revealed no high levels of mold.
A representative fromair quality company Intertek PSI informed the school board and community members of the results during a school board meeting on Wednesday night. The latest samples were received Monday.
After previous testing indicated three rooms with elevated levels of mold, district administrators moved students and staff out, while sanitizing and purchasing a total of 15 dehumidifiers to reduce moisture. Those students and staff have now been moved back into those rooms.
The air quality testing company did not recommend that additional testing is needed at this time, so testing will be done on an as-needed basis in the future.
High levels of humidity- due to weather and HVAC equipment work being done this summer- are blamed for the initial high readings of mold discovered as school was beginning last month.
