Major League Baseball Playoffs:
–The St. Louis Cardinals jumped on the Atlanta Braves for 10 runs in the first inning on their way to a 13-1 victory in Game Five of their National League Divisional Series. The outburst tied a post-season record for most runs in a post-season inning.
It was the 10th consecutive series loss for the Braves. Following the game, Atlanta catcher Brian McCann announced his retirement after 15 seasons.
St. Louis will meet the Washington Nationals in the National League Championship Series after Washington came back on the Los Angeles Dodgers last night to win Game Five of their Divisional Series 7-3. The Nationals hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning to force extra innings, and Howie Kendrick ended the game with a grand slam home run.
Tonight: Houston will host Tampa Bay in Game Five of their American League Divisional Series. First pitch is 7:07pm. Gerrit Cole will start for the Astros. Tyler Glasnow will start for the Rays. The winner will meet the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
The Game 7 Gang will host its annual celebration of the Pittsburgh Pirates World Series victory against the Yankees in 1960 this Sunday beginning at noon. The event will feature a rebroadcast of the game at the Forbes Field Wall on Roberto Clemente Drive in Oakland.
