A woman reported missing from Butler County 14 years ago has been found alive in Florida and is now the main suspect in the disappearance of her coworker.
Kimberly Kessler was 35-years-old when she was reported missing in July 2004 under what police called “suspicious circumstances.”
Authorities now say Kessler had become Jennifer Sybert and was using a fake Social Security number and living in Jacksonville, Florida.
Kessler was arrested in Florida last week and named a prime suspect in the disappearance of her coworker, 34-year-old Joleen Cummings. Police say the two worked together at a hair salon.
Police found Cummings’ vehicle abandoned and believe they have information connecting Kessler to the crime. She has been charged with grand theft auto and possessing a counterfeit passport as investigators continue to look into how the woman disappeared.
Police did say they have evidence that leads them to believe that Cummings is not alive but they have not released details.
