Miranda Lambert is back on the charts with a song called “Smokin’ And Drinkin’,” a collaboration with Little Big Town. It’s the fourth single from her current Platinum album, and the second duet. Her first, “Somethin’ Bad,” featured Carrie Underwood and it topped the country charts.
Miranda tells us that these collaborations aren’t just fun for her fans to hear, they’re fun for the fan in her to be part of. “You automatically have bragging rights if you can say you sang with Little Big Town. I’m a country fan, period. I listen to country radio. Like, I’m kind of a gherm about it. And, so, I mean, I have two of my favorite artists on this record with me: Carrie and Little Big Town, and not to mention The Time Jumpers; it’s a whole different deal. But, you know, I get to hang out with friends, and are also . . . I’m their fan, and they’re doin’ duets with me on this album. It’s crazy, and it’s awesome.”
Miranda says “Smokin’ And Drinkin'” takes her back in time. She said, “This song was written by three amazing songwriters and I connected with it the first time I heard it. It reminds me of hanging out with friends, partying when life still felt innocent, simple and fun. This is definitely my version of a party song, puts me in that kind of mood.” She heard the song and knew it was something she wanted to perform, but Little Big Town had a deal to use the song. So, Miranda came knocking – and asked to have it, while at the same time asking they perform the song with her.
The song is co-written by Grove City native Luke Laird, who has been a part of some of country music’s biggest hits in recent years.
Yesterday (June 23rd), Miranda released the lyric video for “Smokin’ And Drinkin.” See it on the WBUT Facebook page.
