Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers and Robbie Ray of the Toronto Blue Jays have won this year’s Cy Young Awards in Major League Baseball. Burnes became the first Brewers pitcher to win the National League award. The Brewers had two pitchers win while the team was still in the American League – Pete Vukovich in 1982 and Rollie Fingers in 1981. Burnes was 11-5 last season and struck out 234. He also had a combined no-hitter. Ray is the first Toronto pitcher to win since the late Roy Halladay won in 2003. He was 13-7 last season and led the majors with 248 strikeouts. Former Pirate Gerrit Cole was the A.L. runner-up.
