The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 in 10-innings last night. Pirates starting pitcher Chad Kuhl left the game in the fourth inning because of forearm soreness. He had allowed two earned runs, both coming in the first inning. Reliever Steven Brault allowed the game-winning run. Gregory Polanco had two hits, including his second home run in as many days.
The Bucs and Mets play again tonight at 7:10pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm. Ivan Nova will start for the Pirates. He is 4-5 this season with a 3.98 ERA.
The Pirates fell 9-1/2 games behind Milwaukee in the N.L. Central, after the Brewers defeated the Kansas City Royals 5-1 last night.
