One of the few contested local races in Tuesday’s primary in Butler County surrounded the Pennsylvania House of Representatives District 12.
Longtime incumbent Daryl Metcalfe unofficially defeated challenger Gordon Marburger with 59 percent of the votes. (7,870 votes for Metcalfe to Marburger’s 5,301)
Metcalfe of Cranberry Township will now face Democrat Christian Rieger, also of Cranberry, in the November general election.
This is Metcalfe’s 18th year representing the 12th Legislative District, which includes Butler County residents living in 10 areas- Adams, Clinton, Cranberry, Forward, Middlesex and Penn townships and Callery, Mars, Seven Fields and Valencia boroughs.
