A Mercer County man is behind bars after he severely abused a three month old boy on multiple occasions late last month because the child wouldn’t sleep.
The State Police in Mercer say that on August 24th, they were contacted by Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh in regards to a three month old boy who had been brought to the hospital via lifeflight from Grove City.
Authorities say that upon the child’s arrival, it was determined that his injuries were life threatening, and that the child suffered multiple severe brain injuries caused by abusive head trauma.
State police say that after their investigation, they concluded that the boy’s father, 27-year-old James Beck, had abused the child multiple times, with the most recent time occurring on August 22nd.
Beck was arrested on August 29th, and is currently held on a $250,000 secured bond in the Mercer County Jail. He faces multiple charges including Aggravated Assault, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
