A medical marijuana growing facility co-owned by a couple of local businessmen continues to dispense product across the state while demand has resulted in a shortage at some dispensaries. Cresco Yeltrah co-founder Trent Hartley.
“We were hoping that more grower/processors would have product on the shelf right now. Obviously, as a dispensary owner, I want as much diversity as possible and not just my own product. I think that it really just has to do with the patient count. I don’t think that the state or any of us really thought that the program would start this enthusiastically.”
According to Hartley, 21,000 patients have signed up to be part of the program with about 4,000 in possession of cards and the majority of those having visited a dispensary in the last two weeks. Hartley anticipates that the product shortage will be resolved by the end of March.
The response to the new dispensary in Butler has been overwhelmingly positive with many patients coming from an older age demographic.
“Patients counts have been fantastic in Butler and the diversity of patients has been, not shocking, but it’s a lot of older people. We’ve seen that out west, people over 50. I would say that probably yes, that’s a majority of our clients are patients over 50 years old.”
Cresco Yeltrah is still hiring for employees at the Butler location as well as for the Pittsburgh Penn Avenue location in the Strip District scheduled to open in about a month.
