The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-2 last night. Tyler Glasnow made his first start in the major league’s since June and only 2-2/3rds innings. Glasnow allowed five earned runs and walked six. Andrew McCutchen hit his 25th home run of the season. It was the 200th of his career. He joins Willie Stargell, Ralph Kiner and Roberto Clemente as the only Pirates to reach that mark.
The Pirates are off today and visit the Cincinnati Reds for three games beginning Friday.
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-3 Wednesday afternoon, and have set the all-time American League mark for consecutive wins, with 21. Cleveland will host Kansas City tonight. They are five wins away from tying the major league record.
After losing 11 straight games, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 4-1 last night, and officially clinched a playoff spot for their fifth consecutive season.
