A day after two home runs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, outfielder Andrew McCutchen hit two home runs to help the Bucs shut-out Philadelphia 3-0. Pirate starter Jameson Taillon did not allow a run over five innings, striking out nine and the bullpen completed the shut-out. Juan Nicasio bailed the Pirates out of a bases-loaded jam created by Tony Watson in the seventh inning. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Bucs and Phillies play again tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm. Gerrit Cole goes to the mound for the Pirates, who are 38-46 overall and seven games back.
