The attorney for a McCandless mother accused of drowning two sons will likely take a plea deal.
The attorney for Laurel Schlemmer, 42, told an Allegheny County judge Monday that he is working to negotiate a plea deal with the assistant district attorney but also awaiting another psychiatric evaluation in case she decides to go to trail instead.
The mom is accused of drowning 3-year-old Luke and 6-year-old Daniel in the bathtub of their home last year. She later told police that “crazy voices” told her to kill the boys.
The town of McCandless is just south of Wexford and near the Butler County line.
