Butler City Council is expected to postpone advertising to fill the position of fire chief until the new city administration takes offices in January.
At Tuesday night’s Butler City Council agenda-setting meeting, council members discussed updating the job description for Butler’s next Fire Chief. However, Mayor-Elect Ben Smith addressed council with a request to delay advertising for the position until the new council has a chance to participate in discussions of how the position will be structured. Smith called it a professional courtesy.
As a result, current Mayor Tom Donaldson agreed to remove the item from Thursday’s agenda. Ben Smith and Councilman Jeff Smith will be sworn-in in January. Incumbent Ken Bonus was re-elected.
