The Mars Area School Board has taken action to modify the district’s Health and Safety plan.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross discussed recent developments as related to the Health and Safety plan as well as feedback he has received from parents and families.
A large number of unvaccinated or unmasked Mars students have had to miss in-person learning without showing symptoms after being a close contact of someone who tested positive.
On the recommendation of Dr. Gross and effective immediately, the board removed the provision from the previous plan that mandated students in that position quarantine at home for five days.
Students showing symptoms should still not attend school.
Fully vaccinated Mars students or those wearing face coverings have not been required to quarantine if a close contact tests positive for COVID.
A detailed letter and flow chart have been posted to the district’s website to provide guidance about the new policy.
