Support staff at Mars Area School District will vote Wednesday on whether or not they will accept the final contract proposal from the district.
According to Pennsylvania State Education Association representative Brooke Witt who is handling negotiations, custodians, paraprofessionals, and secretarial staff were briefed about the details of the latest proposal offered by the school district at a meeting Tuesday.
The union constitution and by-laws mandates that a vote be taken between 24 and 48 hours following the presentation to allow for consideration.
The Mars School Board set a Sept. 1 deadline for support staff employees to accept this final offer or they would move ahead with a plan to contract with a third party vendor for custodial services.
