The Mars School Board will revise the district’s health and safety plan following a committee meeting next week.
At the Tuesday night school board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross stated that he plans to recommend to the committee that the district return to normal protocols from before the pandemic with two minor exceptions.
The first exception is the only mandate from the state Department of Education which is that administrators must report all positive cases within the district every Friday.
The second exception is that the district plans to continue informing families of students determined to have been in close contact with a student or employee who tests positive.
Revised guidance recently issued by the CDC does not include social distancing or contact tracing which Gross stated has been time consuming for district personnel.
