Students in the Mars Area School District are challenging themselves to find alternative activities to spending time in front of a screen.
The Ultimate Turnoff Challenge will be held from April 1-8 for students kindergarten through 8th grade. Students will try to limit the amount of time they spend using computers or mobile devices, watching television or videos, and playing electronic games. Using the computer for educational purposes is allowed.
Students will receive a Turnoff Challenge worksheet beginning Friday (4/1) where they will document the amount of time they spend in front of a screen. Parents will tally the hours before the sheets are turned in to teachers next week.
The homeroom in each grade level with the fewest number of recorded electronic use hours will win a pizza lunch.
