The Mars School Board will have plenty of money left over to help pay for other projects after an agreement was reached for the sale of the former Middlesex Elementary School.
An offer of $800,000 from Concordia Lutheran Ministries was accepted at a hearing Friday for the building and nearly seven acres of land.
The district still owes $375,000 on the property but the remaining $425,000 from the sale will be deposited in a capital fund for future improvements within the district. The agreement is expected to be finalized soon but Concordia has not yet announced their plans for the facility.
Two appraisals done in November of 2015 resulted in an average value of $550,000 for the former school off Route 8 South.
