Students at Mars Area Middle School will be wearing red for a good cause this week.
The school’s Intramural and Community Services committees are sponsoring a Hoops for Heart fundraiser to benefit the American Heart Association through April 1.
All seventh and eighth graders will have the opportunity to donate a dollar or more to get a paper basketball for their homeroom. The homeroom with the most basketballs at the end of the week will be awarded a breakfast party. Students donating over $10 will receive a t-shirt.
Students and staff will be wearing red to bring attention to heart disease. Students will learn about heart healthy activities and the week will conclude with a competition between seventh and eighth grade basketball teams at a school assembly.
