The Mars hockey team defeated Armstrong 5-2 last night in the PIHL Double-A semifinals. The Planets will face Bishop Canevin next Monday night at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township. Face-off will be 8:30pm. Bishop Canevin has won seven Penguins Cup titles. Mars won the Single-A Penguins Cup championship last season, but moved up a class this season.
The Mars boys basketball team (20-6) will meet Erie Strong Vincent (19-7) tonight in the PIAA second round. Tip-off is 7:30pm at Slippery Rock University’s Morrow Field House.
In a Single-A boys match-up: WPIAL champion Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (19-8) will meet Bishop Carroll (17-8) at Hempfield high school tonight at6pm.
The Karns City girls (23-2) will face North Star (24-2) at IUP tonight. Tip-off for their PIAA Double-A game is 6pm.
In a Quad-A girls game at North Catholic high school in Cranberry Township tonight: North Allegheny (23-4) will meet Pine-Richland (19-6) at 7:30pm
