The Mars Area School District has a new Athletic Director.
The district’s School Board approved a motion to offer the position to Zach Matusak at a salary of $85,000 for the upcoming school year.
Matusak comes to Mars after spending a year as the Director of Athletics for the Sharon School District. He also has experience as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Temple University.
Out of about 20 applicants, the Mars Board and administrators interviewed two finalists before choosing Matusak in an executive session. His first day at Mars has not yet been determined.
Matusak takes over for longtime Mars athletic director and former football coach Scott Heinauer.
