A Mars excavating company has been fined by OSHA for an accident earlier this year.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined Mark Mashuda Excavating $147,000 over federal safety violations.
Back in March, an employee was trapped in a collapsed trench while installing sewer lines off Marburger Road. The man (whose name was never released) was buried up to his waist. It took nearly three hours for him to be rescued. He was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital in stable condition.
OSHA officials said the collapse should have never happened because protective systems should be in place when excavating that deep.
