High School Sports:–The Mars boys meet Trinity tonight in the PIAA Western Region 5A second round. The game will be played at Moon high school. Tipoff is 7pm. (Mars 22-4, Trinity 21-5)
–The North Allegheny girls face Altoona tonight at Hempfield high school in the 6A second round. Tipoff is 6:30m. (N.A is 26-0, Altoona 21-4).
The NCAA women’s tournament bracket was released Monday, and no surprise–Connecticut is the top overall seed. The Huskies are 32-0 this season. Notre Dame, Louisville and Mississippi State are the other #1 seeds.
UConn will open the tournament Saturday against St. Francis of Pennsylvania, who topped Robert Morris in the Northeast Conference tournament championship Sunday.
The “First Four” games of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament begin today in Dayton, Ohio. Tipoff is 6:40pm.
