High School Sports:
–Abington Heights defeated Mars 67-55 to win the boys Class 5A state championship in Hershey last night. Robby Carmody led the Planets with 34 points in his final high school game. He is heading to Notre Dame to play in college. Mars ends their season 25-5 overall.
–The Mars girls will face Archbishop Wood tonight in the 5A title game, also in Hershey. Tipoff is 6pm.
–Karns City’s Emily Hegedus and AC Valley’s Ellie Thompson have been named to the District-9 All-District First Team. Hegedus was the district’s leading scorer, averaging 25.7 points per game. She ended her Karns City career as the all-time leading scorer, with 1,735 points. Thompson averaged 19.5 points per game this season, and ended her career as AC Valley’s all-time leading scorer with 1,527 points.
Karns City’s Chase Beighley was named boys Freshman of the Year in District-9.
