The Mars Area School Board is moving ahead with plans to install an artificial surface on one of their new softball fields.
The board agreed to accept a bid of just over $150,000 from AstroTurf to cover the surface of one of the two new fields near Mars Area Centennial School.
This project includes a parking area as well as the two fields being build on either side of Officer Edward Brooks Drive which connects Route 228 to the Centennial School.
The other field will remain with a natural surface.
