Mars Area School administrators are exploring a grant program to help students prepare for college.
A representative from the National Math and Science Initiative spoke to the school board Tuesday night. This is a program mostly funded by grants for the purpose of helping students do well on Advanced Placement Tests.
NMSI supports existing curriculum approved for AP courses with training for teachers, study sessions for students, money for equipment and money to help pay for the cost of the exams.
The program does require a local match of $25,000 per year for a period of three years so district administrators will continue to investigate before making a recommendation to the board.
