Members of the Mars Area School District community learned more about the transition planned in the next year in order to accommodate a middle school renovation project.
This renovation would address many repairs needed at the facility- such as a new roof and HVAC equipment- as well as electrical, mechanical and plumbing replacement.
The total cost of the project is just over $14 million and will utilize money that the district already has in its possession. In order to allow for the renovation work to be done, administrators anticipate moving the eighth graders to the High School for at least the fall semester.
The board is expected to award bids for the project in early 2019, with construction expected to begin immediately following the end of the current school year and completion anticipated by one year from now.
