One of the winningest basketball coaches in western Pennsylvania history is retiring just before the season gets underway. Mark Jula, who led Butler to a WPIAL championship in 1991, has decided to step away from the game after 38 seasons and 561 wins. The 66-year old has been coaching his alma mater Ambridge since 2012. Jula is 15th on the all-time WPIAL wins list.
The Butler and Knoch boys basketball teams will take to the hardwood this Friday in the first broadcasts of the season on the Butler Radio Network. Follow the Golden Tornado all season long with Tyler Friel on WBUT and the Knights with Scott Briggs on WISR.
