Pennsylvania’s lieutenant governor has announced he’ll bring his ‘Recreational Marijuana Listening Tour’ to Butler County next week.
John Fetterman made a commitment this year to visit all 67 counties in the state to listen to residents’ thoughts on whether the state should legalize marijuana for recreational purposes.
Fetterman will be at Slippery Rock University on Thursday, March 21 in the McKay Education Building auditorium from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“I want to emphasis this is a listening tour. We don’t have a pre-arrived at conclusion,” Fetterman said in February. “We are going out to engage with as many Pennsylvanians as we can to hear what they have to say about this very important topic.”

Fetterman started his tour in February and says so far, he has had great conversations with people on both sides of the issue.
“The response to the lieutenant governor’s listening tours has been tremendous, with people across the state making their voices heard,” Gov. Tom Wolf said in a news release on Tuesday, March 12. “This is exactly the type of discussion I had hoped John would get – for, against, not sure. Everyone’s opinion is important and valued.”
In addition to the thousands of people who have attended a listening tour session, more than 21,000 have responded to the online feedback form, offering their opinions on the topic. The governor’s correspondence office, which tracks the online form, noted that no other topic has received this level of response or interaction since the governor took office in 2015.
“I want to thank the people of Pennsylvania for coming and participating in this important conversation we are having in the commonwealth,” Lt. Gov. Fetterman said. “The stops have been cordial, engaging, and thoughtful. I look forward to continuing this tour and hearing from everyone.”
