A man died Tuesday after being run over by a dump truck in Muddy Creek Township.
The incident happened about 1 p.m. at the Pilot Travel Center on Route 422.
Butler County Coroner Bill Young has identified the victim as 64-year-old William Kerr of Ontario, Canada.
According to State Police, Kerr was killed after a Pittsburgh man- 75-year-old William Adams- hit him while backing out of a gas pump. Police say Adams’ truck hit the victim, knocking him to the ground and running him over.
Officers say Adams kept driving and didn’t realize he had hit the man until he was stopped by pedestrians.
“Adams did not realize he made contact with him,” according to a police report.
Kerr was pronounced dead at the scene by the Portersville/Muddy Creek Emergency Medical Ambulance Service. He was a truck driver himself.
State police say as of now, no charges have been filed. An investigation continues.
