A man needed to be flown to a Pittsburgh hospital as a result of injuries he suffered at AK Steel earlier this afternoon.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday for medical assistance for a man in his 40s being brought to the Route 8 gate of the facility.
After they arrived on scene, EMS crews requested Life Flight respond to Butler Memorial Hospital to transport the man to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Initial reports indicate that he suffered burns to his legs and face. Calls to AK Steel for comment have not yet been returned.
