A man was flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center after a crash that shut down I-79 for hours last night.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center just before 8 p.m. for an accident on I-79 northbound near the Portersville/Prospect exit.
Dispatchers say one vehicle went into a hillside, with one man ejected from the car. When crews got on scene the man was unconscious but breathing.
Police shut down I-79 in order to land a medical helicopter on the highway. The man was taken to UPMC Presby.
I-79 remained shut down until midnight as crews worked to clear the scene.
