A Butler man is facing charges after allegedly leaving his sleeping children in an apartment with a pan on a gas stove burner last month.
According to a criminal complaint, 25-year-old Kamarki Casanova-Rodriguez left a skillet on the burner in his apartment in the 400 block of Shore Street September 19th around 11:30 p.m.
A neighbor heard the fire alarm and went into the smoke filled apartment. She turned off the burner and evacuated an eight year old boy and seven year old girl who were sleeping upstairs.
Police took the children to the police station where Casanova-Rodriguez showed up around midnight and said that he forgot about the pan when he went to Walmart to get groceries. Casanova-Rodriguez has been charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children.
